For the Strategic Philanthropy class at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, my group advocated for and won a $5,000 grant for Seneca Family of Agencies, a certified non-profit operating primarily in the Bay Area. Through an interview with a Director at Seneca and an analysis of its structure and programs, we argued that the grant would be efficiently used by the organization to better serve young people in Oakland schools. Since this was a grant competition, we also shared that the Medi-Cal matching program would essentially double the value of the grant, netting Seneca a total of $10,000 for its youth services. We placed 1st in the Strategic Philanthropy grant competition.
My specific contribution to our group project was interviewing our contact at Seneca, presenting the All-In! program, and assessing the Methods & Evaluations used by the organization.
Below are the slides used during our final presentations.
