LESSON: Work on a daily practice to bring forth the creative genius. Focus on the process, and be there everyday.

Steven Pressfield states that creatives face Resistance whenever they pursue “any act that rejects immediate gratification in favor of long-term growth, health, or integrity.”

Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us.

Artist should “turn pro” and attack their work with a consistent and daily practice. Adopt the habits of playing the game for pay. This leads to the development of a work ethic that shows up daily without complaint and puts in the hours to express whatever is there that day.

The love for the art is still there – it is the ultimate reason – yet working for pay is adopted to instill discipline and consistency.

The most important thing about art is work. Nothing else matters except sitting down every day and trying.
